COUNSELLING IN ST. GEORGE AND SUTHERLAND SHIRE

Specialising in the older age group, NDIS participants, Palliative Care, Trauma-informed care, and life transitions.

Are you going through a life transition or ready to make changes in your life?

If you are looking for a person who will really listen, puts you at the centre of decision making and recognises that you are the expert on your life, I believe that I can help you.  If you have experienced trauma, I will work with you in a way that helps you feel safe emotionally and physically first.  Together we will find practices that will work for you.

What I Can Offer

Counselling For Bereaved

Support for grieving after loss. Counselling for those in palliative care.

Therapy

If you are seeking mental health support for anxiety or depression and have a Mental Health Care Plan, I will be able to work with you. Counsellors do not currently have Medicare provider status, however I am able to negotiate a reasonable fee within the usual Medicare gap.

Coping with illness & pain

Stress and pain and sleep management. Social connection through group work where appropriate.

WHAT I DO

What is counselling?

Professional counselling is a safe and confidential collaboration between qualified counsellors & clients to promote mental health and wellbeing, enhance self- understanding, & resolve identified concerns.

Clients are partners in the counselling process at every stage. Counsellors work with children, young people, adults, couples, families and groups. Counsellors are fully present with their clients, using empathy and deep listening to establish helpful working relationships. Counselling works well when clients feel safe, understood, respected, and accepted without judgement.
In counselling you are invited to work on whatever issue you bring to discuss, no matter how big or small. A referral is not necessary. Your willingness to share openly is all that is needed. Through our work together you may find a richer awareness and ways of being that feel right for you.

I am fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid 19 and influenza.

WHAT TO EXPECT

I believe you are the expert in your life. I recognise that we use language to tell the stories of our lives and that every person has the ability to re-think or re-story areas of their lives and find new ways of being.

Together we will discuss changes that you may want to make that impact on your mental health. These may include the ways sleep, nutrition, exercise and breathing all impact on wellbeing. When necessary I will make appropriate referrals.
